Engineers from 361 Degrees take advantage of a theatre’s unique versatility in this episode of Inside 361.
Watch as the Royal and Derngate Theatre in Northampton transforms to make way for new boilers. The plant room is in an area of the basement that’s difficult to access, which in many cases would lead to complicated construction work.
But our team was able to use the auditorium’s impressive lift system to gain access and eliminate the need for expensive renovations. Once the four Remeha Eco Pro boilers were in place, they could get to work on piping and fittings.
Royal and Derngate’s moving theatre is a sight to behold – the floor moves up or down to adapt to a wide range of performance requirements. As such, it’s able to play host to everything from classical concerts and operas to snooker tournaments and gala dinners.
