Daikin’s VRV air conditioning system has become the first HVAC equipment in the world to meet the internationally respected BES 6001 standard. According to the British Research Establishment (BRE), a former government establishment, BRE 6001 was “developed by the BRE to demonstrate responsible sourcing throughout the supply chain by proving product stewardship against social, economic and environmental sustainability criteria.”
The BRE 6001 standard is also recognised by BREEAM, another part of BRE that is touted as the world’s leading sustainability assessment method.
This new standard covers all VRV products manufactured at Daikin’s Belgium production facility in Ostend.
In a release Graham Wright, Legislation Specialist at Daikin UK Ltd, added, 'This is another significant endorsement for Daikin products. Over the past ten years we have invested in reducing our organisational impact - and the embodied impact we pass on to the users of our products. The BES 6001 standard allowed us to collate a range of supply chain management practices and our own environmental and social performance into a single consistent framework, and allows us to support our clients in the BREEAM process as a result.
